From 2 to 4 October 2026, Lugano’s old town once again becomes the stage for the Autumn Festival (Festa d’Autunno), the yearly event that brings the colours, scents and flavours of the grape harvest into the city. Three days to experience the heart of Lugano — from Piazza della Riforma through the streets of the old quarter — dressed in autumn colours, filled with tastings, music and conviviality.

Grottini, wine and traditional food

The festival’s signature feature remains the return of the grottini: small, temporary taverns set up in the streets of the old town, where local restaurants serve traditional Ticino dishes in a warm, convivial atmosphere. Alongside the grottini, there are tastings of Ticino wines, a chance to discover — or rediscover — the region’s labels paired with the season’s typical flavours.

Market stalls, folk music and family entertainment

The streets of the centre come alive with lively market stalls, offering local produce, crafts and autumn-themed shopping. Providing the backdrop, as tradition has it, are folk groups whose live music sets the tone for the festival, while family-friendly entertainment ensures there’s something for all ages.
