The new season starts on 2 February. To inaugurate it, an event from the RANDOM festival – a project that has been running for a year and allows local youth organisations to organise events open to the public. How is the season looking?
In general the feedback is very positive; the RANDOM project in particular is going very well, in terms of attendance and environment. The weekend is focused on young people: from Thursday to Saturday evenings the proposals at Studio Foce are all curated by youth collectives. A novelty is that on Thursday evenings there will no longer only be DJ sets or concerts, but also film screenings and conferences. The proposals are very varied, starting with classical music, which will open the season.
7 are the upcoming RACLETTE concerts at Studio Foce. Who will be the guests?
The first RACLETTE concert is by Guè Pequeno and Bassi Maestro, who present their new album ‘Madreperla’. Guè was already a guest last year, in a very successful concert. This year he returns together with Bassi – a couple from Milan’s old school scene of the late 1990s, early 2000s – it promises to be a not-to-be-missed evening for youngsters and those who have been listening to Hip hop for years. Also on the Hip hop circuit, we will host Claver Gold at the end of March, and at the end of April Mistaman’s new project together with DJ Shocca (last season he accompanied Egreen) – another historic duo. This year’s guests will also be mohs., Nolan Quinn, Danielle and Martelli.
During the season, Studio Foce will host two musical residencies. What is this about?
This is a project aimed at giving groups from Ticino space to rehearse and organise a tour. The groups come into the Studio on Sunday, rehearse until Wednesday, and on Thursday they play in concert – the first date of their tour. Last season this formula worked very well: the guest artist was Under Changeover, and there was a good response from the audience. The next two residencies are from 19 to 23 February and 28 to 31 May.
More than 40 theatre performances will be staged at Teatro Foce.
The theatre season will include many new productions of HOME, the programme dedicated to local companies that find a home at the Foce; space will also be given to our internal selection, GARDEN, while towards the end of the season between May and June the theatre will host the end of year performances o recitals of local theatre and dance schools. Towards the end of the season a few historic festivals also return to Foce: Il Maggiolino, dedicated to family theatre, Festa Danzante, and ORME Festival, which occupy both the Theatre and the Studio, thus involving the entire Foce.
The next events at Foce are for music the Piazzolla Duo (02.02), for theatre “Kokoschka” (09, 10, 11.02), for cinema “Porco Rosso” (09.02).
